Travel Disclaimer
Zeal Adventures runs treks, jeep safaris, camping stays, homestays, and adventure trips across Sikkim. This page sets out the risks tied to these trips. It also tells you what we expect from you as a guest. Please read it before you join any trip with us.
Nature of Our Trips
Our trips move through real mountain terrain. This is not a controlled setting. A jeep safari can hit a rough patch of road. A trek can cross a narrow ridge or a river. A campsite can sit far from any hospital. These traits make the Himalayas worth visiting. They also make travel here different from a city holiday.
Assumption of Risk
By joining a trip with us, you accept that outdoor travel carries risk. No guide can remove this risk in full. Risks can include falls, altitude sickness, sudden weather, road accidents, and injury during an activity. You choose to join by your own free will. You do so with a clear sense of what a trip involves.
High Altitude Treks
Some of our treks climb above 3000 metres. Goechala, Kasturi Orar Trek, the Singalila Ridge route, and the Green Lake trek sit in this group. Altitude affects each body in its own way. Past fitness does not always guard against altitude sickness. Please tell us early if you plan to join one of these routes. Be honest with us, and with yourself, about your fitness. Our guides watch for warning signs on the trail. But the final call on your own limits rests with you.
Adventure Activities
Rock climbing and other high-thrill activities need a calm head. They also need a body ready for sudden effort. These sit as optional add-ons to a standard trip. A trained instructor stays present for each one. Even with good gear and close watch, a fall or a strain stays possible. Join these activities only if you feel ready in body and mind.
Health and Fitness
Please share any health issue that might affect your trip before you book. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Heart or lung issues
- Past altitude sickness
- Joint, knee, or back trouble
- Pregnancy
- Any condition that needs regular medicine
A doctor’s word is worth more than a guess. See one before a high-altitude or high-effort trip if you have any doubt. We are not doctors. Nothing our team says on the trail replaces a real check by a doctor first.
Travel Insurance
We suggest that every guest carry travel insurance. Look for a plan that covers medical costs, rescue, and trip cancellation. Sikkim’s remote terrain means help can take time to reach you. A rescue or an airlift can cost a lot. Insurance is not required to book with us. Going without it puts that cost risk on your own shoulders.
Weather and Route Changes
Landslides, heavy rain, snow, or a sudden change in permit rules can force us to change a route. This can happen with little warning. Our team will always try to offer the safest option at that time. We ask for your patience, since some of these calls come from nature, not from us.
Permits and Border Zones
Some routes in Sikkim pass through zones that need a government permit. We handle the paperwork for you. But the final say sits with the local office, not with us. A permit delay or refusal can affect your trip. That kind of outcome sits outside our control.
Guide Authority on the Trail
Our guides carry real training and local know-how. Please follow their word during a trek, a safari, or an activity. Do this even if a call feels too careful in the moment. A guide may shorten, pause, or reroute a trip for safety. This call stands as final for that trip.
Local Partners
Homestays, campsites, drivers, porters, and instructors we work with run their own setup. We choose them with care. But we do not run their day to day work. If an issue comes up with a partner, we will help sort it out. Even so, full blame for their service does not rest with us alone.
Personal Belongings
Please watch your own things during the trip. This means your valuables, papers, and gear. We are not liable for loss, theft, or damage to personal items on the road, at a campsite, or at a homestay.
Photos During Trips
Our team may take photos or short clips during a trip. We may use these on our website or on social pages. If you would rather not appear in these, tell your guide at the start of the trip. We will leave you out of any shots we take.
Group Travel and Conduct
A shared trip works best when guests respect the pace, the local culture, and each other. We may ask a guest to step back from an activity. In a serious case, we may ask them to step back from the rest of the trip. This applies if their conduct puts the group or local people at risk.
Limits on Our Liability
To the extent the law allows, we will not be held liable for injury, illness, loss, or death tied to a trip. The one exception is harm that comes straight from clear fault on our part. Travel in this region carries risk that even careful planning cannot remove. This page states that fact in plain terms. It is not an attempt to dodge fair blame.
A Note on Booking Terms
This page covers the risks tied to travel with us. It also covers what we expect from you as a guest. Points like price, payment, and cancellation live on our separate travel terms page. Please check that page for those details.
Changes to This Page
We may update this page as our routes, activities, or local rules shift over time. The date below marks our last update. Take a moment to check it before your next trip.
Questions Before You Book
If any part of this page feels unclear, reach out to our team first. Use the contact details on our website. We would rather answer a question early than leave you guessing on the trail.
